As I start to write about Rise of Nations, I quickly find myself hitting the backspace on my keyboard repeatedly, shaking my head as I try in vain to write a single sentence that would cover all the concepts in this game. My conclusion is that it’s impossible to sum up the history of mankind with just a few measly words – I mean encyclopaedias get hundreds of pages, I get no more than 500 words. Traversing the history of mankind is indeed what Rise of Nations is about, from the stone age to the information age, from ancient religions to modern technology, from a spear to a cruise missile!
