Things You Can Do to Live a More Sustainable Lifestyle

The choices you make every day have an impact on the health of our environment. You should do your part to live a more eco-friendly life and reduce your impact. There is no Planet B. Keep reading to learn 4 things you can do to live a more sustainable lifestyle.

Turn Off Electronics When You Aren’t Using Them

You are likely already in the habit of turning off lights or turning off appliances like air conditioners when you aren’t using them, but you can do more. Electronics continue to draw energy when they are plugged in, even if they are turned off.

This not only impacts the environment, but it also impacts your electrical bill as well.

Unplugging electronics when you aren’t using them, such as phone or laptop chargers, hairdryers, TVs, printers, coffee makers, game consoles, etc., will help you save on your energy bills and move toward a more eco-friendly lifestyle. If you would prefer to avoid the hassle of unplugging all of these items when you are done with them, using a power strip with an off/on switch is another option.

Buy Used or Second-Hand Clothes

The toll that the manufacturing of clothing takes on the environment is immense. The manufacturing process involves many steps involving animal products, crude oil, excess amounts of water and electricity, and chemical waste that is toxic to the earth.

Nearly every step of modern clothing production is harmful to the environment. Shopping for used or second-hand clothing is a simple way to avoid adding unsustainable clothing manufacturing practices.

Use Rechargeable Batteries

Traditional lead-acid batteries contain toxic heavy metals and harmful substances that wreak havoc on the environment. They are not able to be recharged, so they become useless pretty quickly.

Switching to rechargeable batteries is not only a good financial decision but will keep traditional lead-acid batteries out of landfills and keep them from polluting soil and waterways. Check out these products to power RV’s, Boats, EVs and off-grid applications, and more.

Eat Less Meat

You don’t have to go vegan to make small changes in your journey toward a more sustainable life. The raising of farm animals creates excessive carbon dioxide other greenhouse gases, cause water pollution, and contributes to deforestation.

By eating less meat, you can help cut down on these factors. Many people have introduced Meatless Mondays into their homes and make an effort to cook vegetarian or vegan meals at least one day a week. You can check out some great meatless recipes here for inspiration.

A Sustainable Lifestyle is Easy

Everything from the products you buy to the ways you use appliances, and more, have an impact on the health and wellness of our

Earth. If you are looking to live a more sustainable lifestyle, you can take simple steps like turning off electronics when you aren’t using them, buying second-hand clothes, using rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, and eating less meat.
