You may not have heard the term “nesting tote” before. Even if you haven’t, you likely have seen one. You just might not have known what to call it.
Nesting totes are shipping or storage containers. When they are not in use, you can fit one of them inside another one. Because of this, you can stack them up, and they don’t take up much room.
There are all kinds of practical uses for these kinds of containers. Let’s talk about a few of them right now.
They’re Great to Use in Mailrooms
You can use nesting totes both at home and at work. In the professional world, though, there are few places where they come in handy more than in busy mailrooms.
The mailroom is usually like a company’s nerve center. It would be best not to be surprised to see letters and packages go in and out of there all day.
While it is true that many communications can now be conducted via email and similar methods, there are still physical letters and packages that need to be sent daily for various purposes.

You might also have a warehouse through which you send physical goods. You might make the goods onsite, or perhaps your warehouse is more of a waystation before those products get sent all over the country or the world.
You can use nesting totes to send those goods along a system of conveyor belts. The products would be exposed and could break more easily if they were not in containers.
You Can Use Them to Store Decorations
At home, you can find plenty of uses for nesting totes as well. Since they are durable and fairly lightweight, you might utilize them for storage purposes.
For instance, if you have a garage or basement, you might grab some nesting totes to use for decoration storage. You might enjoy setting up strings of brightly colored lights at Christmas or having ghosts and goblins all over the house for Halloween. You can keep all of those in nesting totes until you get them out during the appropriate time of year.
You Can Use Them to Store Silverware, Plates, Etc.
Keeping things at home, you might also use a set of nesting totes as a place to stow all of your silverware or a set of dishes that you seldom use. There’s a long tradition of passing down silverware or fancy dishes to relatives to keep them in the family. That’s nice, but fewer people have china cabinets in which to feature them anymore.
When you are not using those plates, cups, and silverware sets, you need to put them somewhere. You can use a set of nesting totes for that purpose. Again, a garage or basement would be an ideal spot where they are safe and out of the way.
